benefits of seasonal eating

Nowadays, it’s easy to buy the fruit and vegetables you want regardless of whether they’re in season. Supermarkets do a fantastic job at stocking them pretty much all year round. But there are benefits of seasonal eating for both you and the planet.

Buying fruit and vegetables when they’re in season for your country often means they’re at their peak. So they give you far more flavour and nutrition compared to buying them at other times of the year.

Also, seasonal eating can save you money for the most part as you’re buying food that doesn’t cost a lot to produce. Farmers save time and effort when producing seasonal food as it’s at its natural point of harvest. When we buy produce out of season, more effort is involved. It’s often imported from a location with a different climate. Meaning high transportation and storage costs as your food has a long way to travel. Buying local seasonal produce cuts the carbon footprint of this process so it’s more environmentally friendly.

  1. What you’re saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I’m sure you’ll reach so many people with what you’ve got to say.
