I’m desperate to tell you about the beautiful food I had at Serotonin Eatery but first, you need to know where to find this place! They’re situated not too far from St. Kilda beach, walking distance from Burnley station. For the everyday backpacker, some would say it’s a little out of the way; but if you’ve got time to kill then it’s worth the trip and let me tell you why…
The Vibes:
This place boasts all the chic boho vibes. Think pastel pinks, fresh green and floral decor, clean whites, rose gold detailing against light charcoal concrete finishings. There is something quite feminite about the way this place is designed, yet it attracts all types of people throughout the day. Especially those who enjoy morning catch-ups over brunch. I loved the fresh flower arrangements they had on each table which were made up of gorgeous sensual buds. Including peonies, roses and fresh ecalyptus… so you can imagine the beautiful scents – I could have sat and smelt them all day. After all, Peonies are one of my favourite flowers!
The Service:
In tune with the feminite decor, I couldn’t help but notice a lot of the staff were female. Though, I don’t think that’s because of any particular reason. And it certainly didn’t affect the service in any way. If anything, the team seemed to work really well together. They were professional and presented very well. The staff were welcoming upon my arrival and I was seated immediately in one of their swing chairs. Yeah, a swing chair – it was weird at first. I hadn’t ever eaten in a swing chair before but there ended up being something quite relaxing about it. Finally, let me tell you about the beautiful food…
The Food:
I had their Golden Latte and Nutrition Bomb Breakfast. The Golden Latte was served in this funky rustic clay mug. It was a heart-warming mix of turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and pepper which was spun into cononut milk. Warm spices like that always remind me of Christmas! But the best bit was the big smiley face on top – you can’t help but smile back!
The Nutrition Bomb Breakfast was this absolutely insane rainbow bowl. Boasting beautiful flavours and healthy fats, proteins, probiotics and high fiber! It was a healthy dream. A huge mixture of sauerkraut, greens, homemade hummus, roasted pumpkin, sweet potato and poached egg. The toasted almonds and walnuts added a nutty crunch with each bite; and the lemon and fresh herb tahini sauce was gorgeous. A nutritional filling breakfast with lots of flavour – all you need to start the day right ey? They can also swap out the poached egg for extra avo if ya vegan…
The Damage:
Ok, admittedly, this place is a little pricey – with the Latte costing $8 and the breakfast being $23. But don’t let that put you off…
Should I go to Serotonin Eatery?
Totally babe! Though a little pricey, the Seretonin Eatery feeds your body with all the feel-good nutrition it needs. After all, a colourful bowl is a healthy bowl and there’s certainly no lack of colour (or taste) in this place. It’s another eatery which prides itself on offering delicious plant-based meals to help inspire those living Life Without Meat.
